5 Tips for planning any wedding

Bridal party photo idea

We just wrapped up back-to-back weekends of weddings and thought we’d share a few tips with you from what we’ve learned and observed. Here are a few key points that we think will help you with planning your wedding.

5 Tips for planning any wedding:

#1 Assign Tasks

Assign specific tasks to family and friends for the days leading up to your wedding and on the wedding day. AND be sure to provide your coordinator or planner with a list of who is responsible for which task. You do not want people scrambling around on the day of because something was overlooked.

#2 Don’t Assume

Once you have assigned your task be sure to clearly communicate what that task entails and make sure the person responsible understands and is aware.

As a precaution you can have your coordinator or planner reach out to these individuals as well. They may think of other things that you haven’t and can help prevent some big hiccups on your big day.

#3 Floor Plans

When selecting or designing your floor plan make sure it includes things like:

Cake table, Gift table, Hors d’oeuvre & Buffet Tables, Bar, DJ & Band Space, Dance Space

Also, make sure the bridal table can accommodate the # of people you have planned to sit with you including any significant others or children.

#4 Organize

Be sure to keep all of you wedding items in one place both at home and when delivering to the venue.

It is easy to forget or misplace items when you have them in multiple locations. Create a checklist for when you are packing things to go to the venue and for once you have unloaded everything. If you have someone else decorating or setting up for you while you are doing something else, you want to make sure that they have everything they need. You don’t want them getting you all stressed out because they can’t find something that should be there.

#5 Be Realistic.

We love a good DIY wedding. It is ok to want to handle as much as you can without having to hire someone to do it, but you need to be realistic in your expectations of yourself and others. If you are tasking people with cooking, decorating, creating florals, setting up tables, etc. There are only so many hours in a day and there are other things to be done to prepare for a wedding. Listen to your planner / coordinator and those that have agreed to help you. If it sounds like a lot then it is most likely a lot.

We hope you find this helpful. Remember to relax and enjoy the experience, In the end all that matters is that you are married and that you were surrounded by friends and family.
