What you'll need:

📍 Floral Wire

📍 Wire cutters.

📍 Landscaping Gloves

📍 Sheers or Loppers, Make sure it will cut through branches.

📍 Evergreen branches, we get ours by the truck load so that we have plenty of options for our arrangements . We use mostly cedar in this arrangement with cypress, scotch pine, and gunni eucalyptus as fillers. Whatever you are using as your base should be the bulk of your evergreen supply.

.

🌲Start by trimming springs off of branches. Individual springs are more narrow, and allow you to control the shape of your garland vs branches that span in multiple directions. Make sure to cut from the base of the stem and not just from where the foliage begins.

Small stem of cedar with berries. These make for a nice splash of color to your garland.

🌲Separate them out into sizes. This will make it easier when you are arranging your sections & bunches.

🌲Assemble the springs into small bunches. Layer them in lengths. You can control the width of the bunch better with individual sprigs vs. large branches. Use your floral wire to tie your sprigs together. For more stability wrap the stems from where the greenery ends to the end of the stem and then back down. Twist both ends of wire together until they are tight at the stems to keep them from getting loose.

🌲Attach the bunches to each other or longer strands. (Tip: wrapping them in 2 spots makes your garland more secure). Use the same wiring tip as above.

🌲Don’t try to make sections that are too long. They’re easier to transport in sections of 3 feet to 4 feet. If you need to hang them or tie them together you can easily do so once you’re ready to install your garland.

🌲 Once you’re ready to assemble your garland you can interchange these small sections so that they lay the way you want on the table. We did make 1 section with the garland spanning in both directions to act as our center. We did this so we could drape the garland on both sides of the table. Unfortunately we did not get a more detailed clip of this but if you’d like to know how we did it feel free to ask.

🌲 After we get the garland to lay the way we want we go back and add some filler pieces. Our sections are all cedar and we used cedar, cypress, scotch pine,

and gunni eucalyptus as our fillers.

🌲 Next it’s time to set the table! Place your candles sporadically along the table and make sure the heights are staggered. Once you have your candles where you want them you can add your place settings. We don’t recommend adding any place settings to the table until you are done arranging your greenery as it can get a bit messy.

.

Tips:

📍wear gloves to avoid getting sappy hands (cedar and cypress are also a bit prickly)

📍 keep your garland watered and in a cool place and out of full sun. If you’re experiencing a lot of warmer weather or a lot of direct sunlight, water it more often.

We used some of our longer filler pieced to make the ends fuller where they hung over the table.

📍once boxed for transport or assembled on your table use a mister or spray bottle to keep your greenery from drying out. Be mindful not to spray your glass candle holders so you do not have water spots.

📍lastly and most important ‼️DO NOT place any candles too close to your greenery. Place any short votives a few inches from it.
